Library and Archives Canada: Censuses

Census returns are official Government of Canada records that enumerate the country’s population. They are an invaluable source of information for genealogy research. Starting in 1851, most census records included the names of every resident, their country or province of birth, age and many other details.

Library and Archives Canada holds an extensive collection of Canadian census records from 1640 to 1926, and for Newfoundland from 1671 to 1945.

Wizard's Cove Lists of Web Indexes

In his early years when Dr. Chris Young was teaching and for some time thereafter, he used to perform chemical magic under the stage name The Wizard. The actual Wizard Cove, New Brunswick, Canada, is in front of his cottage he had inherited from his parents. Additionally, Chris in the late 1990's was one of the first amateur genealogists--historians to utilize the Internet as a free sharing vehicle for his years of Foreign Protestants research.

Chris Young's Original Wizard's Cove

In the late 1990's, Dr. Chris Young created his Wizard's Cove website in order to better share his years of research that led to his two classic books:

Register of The Foreign Protestants of Nova Scotia (ca. 1749-1770).
TWO VOLUME SET Written by Winthrop P. Bell, Ph.D.
Compiled by Dr. Chris Young, Ph.D. (author-published)
Maps Associated With Lunenburg County Family History (Nova Scotia)
